What Makes Our Community Unique

Night Sky Yard stands out because it connects a very specific way of living with a practical housing format. The community is not just themed around dark skies and shared observation; its common spaces, daily rhythms, and membership path are designed so that dark skies and shared observation becomes part of ordinary life rather than a decorative amenity.

About This Community

Night Sky Yard is a housing concept for people drawn to darkness in the best sense: not isolation, but night as a shared civic good. The plan includes compact homes, low-light circulation, a telescope deck, an indoor map and library room, and common meals that often extend into evening observation. Because the project is still at the idea stage, early members can shape the fundamentals: site priorities, governance, common spaces, and the social rhythm that will define the place. Founder Mira Collins brings a practical, human-scale approach to the project and is focused on keeping the place useful, welcoming, and specific rather than polished for its own sake. The goal is not to promise a perfect lifestyle. It is to create a residential setting where ordinary daily life becomes easier, more social, and more intentional. People can keep private lives, work, host family, and make practical decisions while having a real neighborhood around them. What matters most is repeated contact: meals, shared tools, walks, work sessions, quiet mornings, and the informal help that turns adjacent households into a community.
